absorbing toy for the preschoolersAug 11, 2011

My 5 year old son received an older version of these for a birthday present and LOVES them - he sits for hours doing them. His 3 1/2 year old sister wanted to do mosaics, too, so I bought these. The pieces are bigger than the older kid version, and kids need to match both color and shape (rather than follow a number code) to fill in the blanks. My daughter loves these, but doesn't sit for hours doing them like her brother. A half hour is about her limit. She has some trouble orienting the triangles - really has to concentrate to get them headed in the right direction. This isn't a bad thing, just a note. Other reviews are from parents of 4 year olds, and I think a brand new 3 year old might have trouble or get frustrated with this if they are perfectionists. That being said, I think it's a great toy for airplane rides (which is why I bought them) or for that witching hour right before dinner when I need time to cook and my kids need to chill out! Easy to pack in a carry-on (small, flat), not easy to bend (very sturdy cardboard), engaging pictures and bright colors.

I was worried my 3yr old could not manage the small pieces, but to my surprise she did great. And my 5yr old loves it to.
A nice craft they can do with out fighting, WINNER!
Bought these because of the reviews describing the large foam stickers. They were great, perfect for little hands.
My 3 yr old put the pieces on her shirt & then on the craft.

Purchased this for my 3.5 year old after purchasing the more involved Sticky Mosaics for the older kids. This is perfect for a 3, 4 or 5 year old. Colors and shapes combined w/ a craft. Then you can put the hanger it comes w/ on the back and hang it up on the wall. They are really nice when all done. A 3 year old might need some adult assistance but not much. Takes less than a half hour to complete one. I recommend all the sticky mosaics!

This mosaic activity and others from this genius company are what saved my sanity during our unexpectedly frequent snowdays this winter. My 3 year old daughter did a really great job placing these mosaic sticker shapes onto the pictures. It helps with fine motor coordination and color recognition. The high quality of these kits help me justify the price. I feel that these would make unique birthday gifts and the circus theme is maily unisex for young children.
